Marino Marin
Founder, Managing Principal | mmarin@mcsquarecapital.com
 

Mr. Marin is the Managing Principal at MC Square. He has over 30 years of principal investment and investment banking experience. He has participated as a principal in a number of transactions both in the US and internationally and has also advised corporate clients and private equity firms in M&A and capital market transactions. Mr. Marin currently serves as an independent director on various boards both of  US and European companies. He is also currently registered with MC Square Capital, LLC and acts as its Managing Principal.

 

Prior to founding MC Square Group, he established 1055 Partners, a principal co- investment platform. Mr. Marin was previously a managing director at Silverfern Group, a global investment firm, where he participated in a number of proprietary deals as an investor. Earlier in his career, he worked at Laidlaw & Co. in New York where he focused on consumer and industrial corporate clients, financial sponsors and family offices. Notably, Mr. Marin was responsible for establishing and running the M&A department of Unicredit Banca Mobiliare S.p.A (UBM), the investment banking division of UniCredit, one of the largest banks in the Eurozone. Based in Milan, Italy, Mr. Marin served as an adviser on more than 50 transactions valued at over $70 billion in the consumer products, industrial and financial institution sectors, for clients including Telecom Italia and the FIAT Group. Prior to UBM, Mr. Marin spent nine years in M&A with Rothschild, Lehman Brothers, and UBS Warburg in New York. He began his career in Milan at Mediobanca, where he was part of the Servizio Finanzario and served as a statutory auditor for Mediobanca’s SADE Finanziaria. Mr. Marin earned his laureate degree in Business Administration from Luigi Bocconi University, Italy and attended the PIM in Esade, Spain. He speaks English, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese. He holds Series 24, 7, 63, 79 and 99 securities licenses.

Conor McEnroy
 

Conor McEnroy is Chairman of Sudameris Bank.  Founded in over 50 years ago, the Bank was acquired by Abbeyfield Group in 2004 from Banca Intesa and in the intervening ten years has grown from $150 million of assets to over $ 1 billion of assets.  The 2014 returns to shareholders were 22%.

 

Conor is a member of the Chairman’s International Advisory Council of the Council of the Americas, the premier international business organization whose members share a common commitment to economic and social development, open markets, the rule of law, and democracy throughout the Western Hemisphere.

 

He is a member of the Business Council of Latin America (CEAL). CEAL is a network of entrepreneurs from Latin America which aims to promote and encourage the participation of its membership in economic cooperation and exchange activities; and, enhancing the role of private enterprise as an agent of economic and social transformation in the regions that make up this network tool.

 

He is a member of the Global Irish Network, a selected group of key members of the international business community (Irish Diaspora across 37 countries), which assists in developing Ireland's global business and trade relations and hosts a bi-annual forum to discuss priorities for economic renewal.

 

He is a member of the Client Advisory Board of the Netherlands Development Finance Company (FMO), a bilateral private-sector development bank based in the Hague, the Netherlands. He is fluent in English, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.

Clarence Schwab

​

Mr. Schwab manages Schwab Capital Management which he founded in 2007, a high-touch investment and advisory firm focused on publicly-traded and privately held companies in consumer and energy-related industries. He has worked closely with entrepreneurs, family offices and financial institutions providing strategic, financial, and operational expertise.

 

Prior to starting his firm, Mr. Schwab was a Principal at TSG Consumer Partners, a leading consumer-focused private equity firm in the U.S., originating, evaluating, and negotiating new investments, assisting in that firm's national marketing program, and opening its first New York office.

 

Prior to that, he was a Principal at Golub Capital, a leading debt lender to middle market companies in the U.S., where he originated and evaluated new junior debt and equity investments in various companies, participated in portfolio management and headed the firm's marketing efforts.

 

Mr. Schwab, prior to joining Golub Capital, was a Senior Associate in mergers and acquisitions at Wasserstein Perella & Co. He was also a Marketing Associate at Schering-Plough Corporation, where he was a member of the product management team that launched Claritin allergy medication, one of the most successful launches in that company's history.

 

Mr. Schwab holds a B.A. degree in Economics from Columbia College, from which he graduated in 1991, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, which he received in 1996.

 

His writings have been published in The New York Times, the Financial Times, The Hill and Fox News — on how to protect First Amendment norms and rights, on the need for trillion dollar investment to maintain U.S. infrastructure, on how to spur lending to small, creditworthy businesses and on how to manage weakened U.S. financial institutions. Mr. Schwab has also worked successfully to improve local school district budgeting and planning.

Bjorn Soderstrom
 

Bjorn Soderstrom is an entrepreneurial senior executive and Co - Founder of Mediaplanet, Conversionplanet and now Co-founder and Executive Chairman of Rchery Inc, a U.S. based Media Tech company.

 

During the last 10 Years building Mediaplanet to a global content marketing company in 17 countries with over 400 employees. Mr Soderstrom moved to New York from London in 2007 to start Mediaplanet and left the company in 2012 after building up highly profitable operations in North America with offices in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal.

 

In 2013 Rchery Inc started and was funded by both U.S and Swedish investors. RCHERY Inc is set to offer a unique opt-in mobile ad platform that enables redistribution of the marketing spend into the hands of consumers in real-time. With a team in New York and Stockholm Rchery will be ready for launch during 2015 with local carriers.

 

Despite the educational background within marketing and advertising, at RMI Bergs Advertising School and IHM business School, Mr Soderstrom joined in 1994 HQ Bank, focused the next coming years creating derivatives and trading. Today Mr Soderstrom lives in Greenwich, CT with his wife and 3 daughters, returning to lovely Sweden every summer and to New York everyday to make Rchery a disruptive global company. He is bilingual in Swedish and English.

 

 

Joseph Haviv
 

Mr. Haviv's contributions to the MC Square team encompass strategic, financial, and operational expertise developed through a unique set of investment leadership experiences. 

 

Joe began his career at McKinsey & Company, across the Cleveland, Milan, Mexico and New York offices, serving industrial and consumer goods companies on performance maximization engagements (e.g. accelerated revenue growth or aggressive cost reduction). Mr. Haviv was one of the founders of the Firm's Operations practice and to this day his trademark is "Excellence through Execution".

 

Mr. Haviv's investment career began at EXOR S.A., the holding company of the Agnelli Group, where he was the lead professional responsible for major North American investments including Constitution Reinsurance, PartnerRe, Western Industries and others totaling over $900 million. 

 

In 1998, Joe joined First Atlantic Capital Ltd. with the express intent of growing the Private Equity Firm to new heights: capital under management grew five-fold to $425 million, and professional staff tripled, while early investments such as Otis Spunkmeyer baked goods yielded superior returns. 

 

In 2001 Mr. Haviv founded PROTOSTAR PARTNERS, a Private Equity Firm dedicated to acquiring portfolios of investment assets from other PE players (today's direct secondaries). Over the course of 15 years the Firm acquired over 50 companies, in a mix of control and minority investments (over $300 million in equity), and reshape the breakeven economics of many enterprises, while taking advantage of the "J-curve" effect to maximize returns. 

 

Mr. Haviv has served as active Chairman of the Board or Director in a wide variety of American and Italian enterprises refining company strategies, realigning organizations, and implementing thorough performance and results management systems. His "front line leadership" approach, together with fact-based decision making deliver high value to the businesses, while preserving management's independence and responsibilities. Investments also benefit greatly from his first-hand knowledge of market dynamics in many sectors and geographies.

Antony Sormann

 

Antony Sormann is an Executive Director of Keybridge Capital Limited and a Non-Executive Director of both Molopo Energy Limited and PTB Group Limited.

 

Mr. Sormann has over 18 years’ experience in corporate law and investment banking including nine years as a Director of SLM Corporate and six years working in the investment banking division of NM Rothschild & Sons (Australia) Limited of which two years were as an executive in the Rothschild group’s New York office.

 

He holds bachelor degrees in law and economics from Monash University and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investments from the Securities Institute of Australia.

John Webb​

​

Mr. Webb is the CFO at Replenium Inc., the world’s most powerful, flexible and intelligent product replenishment platform founded by former Amazon senior managers. In addition, Mr. Webb is a member of the Advisory Board of Center Cap Group, a boutique real estate investment bank.

​

Prior to his recent engagements, Mr. Webb had a 20 year career with Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays PLC.  In his last position, he was a Managing Director in the Gaming and Hospitality team where he executed debt, equity and M&A transactions for the firm’s clients. During a varied career at Barclays, Mr. Webb worked in coverage, leveraged finance, structured commodity/ structured finance and credit functions.

Mr. Webb lives in Greenwich where he is an active member of the community. He is a member of the SEAL Future Fund, a charity organized to benefit the civilian advancement of veteran Navy SEALs.  He was educated at Kingston College and North East Surrey College of Technology, has attended IMD executive management programs, and holds an ACIB professional qualification.

Angelo Dainese

 

Mr. Dainese is the founding Partner of Dainese Consulting. Angelo is a strategic development expert and operator specialized focused on the Automotive, Motorcycle, Accessory and Sporting Goods industries.  He managed several top international brands either as Chief Executive Officer or COO with a focus on international market expansions.

​

After earning a Law School degree at the University of Bologna, he was with Dainese SpA from 1991 to 2004. He covered multiple positions and managed key international subsidiaries (UK, FRA,USA)..  Notably, Angelo developed the OEM/Private Label Division for Dainese SpA, After his tenure at Dainese he became the Global Growth Strategy Officer at SCHUBERTH Helmet Gmbh, the preeminent helmet brand. While at Schuberth he supported the board to re-launch the brand and its products. Thereafter he collaborated as an operator with company such as Jip Motor of Spain (distributor of helmet brand ARAI) Logicodesign/MOMO DESIGN,  POLPLASTIC Group (supplier to hi-end automobiles such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Audi and Daimler Mercedes and Stellantis), Cosma Group Srl (a smart component manufacturer for Automotive and Appliances industries and a strategic supplier of company line Electrolux and Marelli). He represented ACEM, the European Motor Cycle Accessories Industries Association at the CEN, European Committee for Standardization, WG9, in order to study, create and evaluate the new PPE safety standards for motorcyclists.
